Summer Vacation

June 10th, 2009 by judytalks

Summertime is often referred to as vacation time. Kids are out of school, parents look forward to sight seeing and relaxing, and the whole family packs up the car and goes.
That was once upon a time. Vacations usually lasted two weeks, giving adequate time to drive to a faraway place, state park or interesting city and really soak it all in.
Today, vacations can be as short as 24 hours or as long as a month or more. But the basic purpose of “vacation” hasn’t changed. Vacation means Vacate. Leave the familiar surroundings, work place, everyday routine and refresh yourself. Kick back with loved ones, friends, or go alone and make new friends. Get out of the house and into the playground.
Personally, I like to take several short vacations throughout the year. If I need rest and relaxation, I take 3 or 4 days and just crash. I love history, educational spots, and theme parks. These usually take a little longer. I know, it takes time and money to go on vacations, but one doesn’t have to fly clear across the country. Why am I writing about this? Some people never take vacations, and right now, many haven’t the money to spend. So, be creative. Go see the sights in your own neighborhood or nearby towns and cities that you’ve never visited. Go every other Saturday, or an evening during the week.
Refresh yourself. Relax. Learn something. Treat the mind, body, and soul to a change of pace and surroundings.
Happy Camping,
